A high-fidelity digital twin approach for the optimisation of fluid jet polishing process

Fluid Jet Polishing (FJP) is an Ultra-Precision Machining (UPM) technology for super-fine finishing of small and complex components. FJP has distinctive advantages compared to other polishing methods, including high accuracy, no heat generation, tool wear, applicability various types materials, suitability freeform surfaces. Nevertheless, previous research work on focuses mainly theoretical modelling simulation the mechanisms with experimental validations, a large amount process uncertainties happened during have been overlooked. These could cause variations surface quality workpieces in terms material removal rate roughness. Recent advancements Digital Twin (DT) shown great potential addressing this issue. However, high-fidelity DT not investigated date. In paper, we propose novel approach optimisation process. First, related reviewed identify limitations existing approaches.
